The LEAP Energy Advisor Academy launched just over a year ago as a joint venture between AgilityEco and Greenworkx, the climate edtech startup powering the skilled trade workforce for Net Zero.

The academy aims to meet the growing demand from the industry to support consumers through energy costs. We’re on track to reach our goal of launching 100 new energy advisors into the marketplace this year.

With the number of households living in fuel poverty and an increased awareness of the climate crisis, people are looking for ways to make their homes more energy efficient. This has resulted in soaring demand for trained Energy Advisors who can provide people with practical advice and information on everything from energy-saving tips, signposting onward support services and funding for insulating their homes.

Working with Greenworkx, we are diversifying the range of people considering a career as an Energy Advisor, by demystifying what the roles entail, what skills are needed, how well it pays and the work flexibility it offers. The fully digital courses involve peer-to-peer learning and support, with opportunities to participate in qualifications, including National Energy Action Level 3 in Energy Awareness.

So far, several new energy advisors, trained through the academy, have found roles within the LEAP delivery network, either directly with us or through our regional delivery partners. But above and beyond this, the programme is creating fully trained advisors for the wider marketplace. Greenworkx are working hard to develop relationships with a wide range of employers and match our trainees into relevant local roles.

Sylvester, LEAP Energy Advisor Academy Graduate, said: “I have learned so much, and I feel really fulfilled helping people. Every day I get up looking forward to doing my job and I don't want Friday to come!”

Mat IIic, co-founder and CEO of Greenworkx, said: “We're very proud of the impact that our Energy Advisor Academy has had in its first year. Hundreds more Energy Advisors will be needed over the next few years to support those most vulnerable to fuel poverty, so we're looking forward to working with AgilityEco on scaling our academy in 2025.”

Across M Group Services, we train, retain and develop the next generation of highly skilled and forward-thinking individuals, as we look to protect people, and the planet.
