We are delighted to announce that we have officially been validated for our science-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The achievement marks a significant step in our commitment to combat climate change and align our business practices with the latest climate science. This validation ensures that our climate action for our own operations is in line with the urgent need to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Over the past two years, we have been collecting information about our carbon emissions to develop a baseline from which to anchor our carbon reduction strategy. Throughout this period, our data has been gathered and shared with external verifiers so that our targets could be evaluated.

Our newly validated target demonstrates our commitment to achievable emission cuts: we have pledged to cut our own emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 42% by 2030 against a 2022 baseline year. This will serve as a cornerstone for our ambitious decarbonisation strategy, guiding our efforts to reduce emissions across all of our operations. In addition, our target for our supply chain (Scope 3 Purchased Goods and Services) is to reduce emissions intensity by 52% per GBP added value by 2030 within the same timeframe.

Across our business, we continue to work with our clients and supply chain partners to drive the transition to a low carbon economy and create a sustainable legacy. All this is reflected in our latest ESG & Innovation report, released today click to read here.

Our annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) & Innovation Report shares a snapshot of the significant highlights achieved in the year April 2023 to March 2024.

We are extremely proud to present a report that has an increased focus on our people, creating a space for them to share their stories and journeys, and highlighting the innovative and inspiring ways they are contributing towards the Group’s ESG commitment.
