To kick off Net-Zero Week 2022, we are focusing on the M Group Services Plant and Fleet Solutions Carbon Reduction Roadshow which began in April 2022 and came to an end last week.

M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions (MGSPFS) travelled across the UK, showcasing their ‘green’ offerings to M Group Services’ operating businesses, aiding the drive towards a net-zero future. As a member of the EV100, M Group Services and MGSPFS is committed to transitioning its core fleet of over 8,000 vehicles to electric by 2030, with 75 charging locations being installed for use by its people and clients.

Each week we visited one or more of our operating businesses with the aim of presenting our carbon friendly plant and fleet offerings which every week varied from fully electric vehicles, electric excavators, battery cut off saws, battery powered rammers, compactor plates, accommodation units and much more. We also showcased our capabilities and best practise through live demonstrations alongside accommodating group discussions for any questions our customers may have had.

The UK has made significant progress in decarbonising the economy. Overall emissions have fallen by 40% since 1990; more than any other advanced economy. For example, almost half of our electricity came from renewable or low carbon sources last year and introducing our carbon-friendly plant, fleet and accommodation units will be instrumental in M Group Services fulfilling commitments to the EV100, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the United National Global Compact and achieving net-zero before 2050.

Strategic Account Manager, Westley Price, has said the following:

“Over the past few months, I do believe customers have appreciated seeing products up close to understand how they can change their way of working. There has been varied feedback on some of the products shown and we even changed some throughout the shows due to this. We also received comments on the challenges some areas may face with the switch to battery operated plant/tools away from traditional petrol/diesel tools. We will therefore be working with our customers and their clients to show how the Group can be more environmentally friendly without having an impact on productivity.

We have also shown that we have the ability to set up entire greener sites through the use of Solar Pods, ECO welfare cabins and electric vehicles. Within MGSPFS we can offer a turnkey solution for each requirement through our hire desks, and Tier 1 hire partners.”
