We are delighted to tell you M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions has won a prestigious award for Excellence in Fleet Safety and Compliance at this year’s Fleet News Awards ceremony which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The Fleet News Awards recognise excellence and outstanding achievement across the industry and the team faced tough competition on the night to win.

This award demonstrates our commitment to putting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and the public first, as well as reducing our impact on the environment.

We are using telematics data and reporting to better understand any road incident that’s occurred and support our people with information, education and training to reduce the risks to them and other road users in future.

Our approach to driver risk management works in several ways including the policies we have in place and the toolbox talks, briefings and e-learning resources available to drivers across the business, increasing awareness and enabling safer driving.

It’s good news for the environment too. Our telematics system encourages people to think about their driving habits, which means we can continue to reduce our carbon intensity and help make roads and communities safer. It can be as simple as reducing harsh acceleration and braking, as well as keeping an eye on fuel usage and anticipating traffic flow early. Plus, our policies mean we expect everyone who uses their own vehicle for work to meet our standards for the age and condition of their vehicle, which must be under 140g/km CO2 emissions.

On the award win, the judges said that we’ve “added in an extra layer of innovation, including induction videos and overloading initiatives. It takes an holistic view of occupational road risk and has embedded driver safety across the business. It gets the most out of its telematics data, which is used to tackle the most appropriate risk, while an excellent root cause analysis programme helps to prevent similar incidents in the future.”

The award was presented to Tony Draper, Head of SHEQ, on the night by Paul Hollick, award sponsor, judge and Chair of the Association of Fleet Professionals, and BBC journalist and newsreader Huw Edwards.

Congratulations to everyone involved. A lot of hard work goes into keeping us all safe on the roads. We are delighted our commitment to safer, greener driving has been recognised by the industry in this way.
